Occupational Safety Card renewal 4h remote training
The validity of your Occupational Safety Card can now be updated by participating in a four-hour Occupational Safety Card refresher training. This updated training format became possible as of April 1, 2023, by decision of the Finnish Centre for Occupational Safety.
During the refresher training, four lessons are covered, after which an occupational safety exam is taken. The total duration of the training is therefore approximately 4.5 hours. Previously, renewing the Occupational Safety Card required eight hours of training, but now the update can be completed in a shorter time. The four-hour training includes the same learning objectives as the full-day training and provides the same qualification.
It is important to remember that to participate in the shorter refresher training, you must have a valid Occupational Safety Card issued by the Finnish Centre for Occupational Safety. The card number will be verified, so make sure you bring your card to the training. If your card has been lost and you do not know its number, you can clarify the matter in advance by contacting the Finnish Centre for Occupational Safety.
If your card is not valid or you are obtaining an Occupational Safety Card for the first time, you must complete the seven-hour Occupational Safety Card basic training.
Preparing for Occupational Safety Card refresher training:
- Make sure you have a valid Occupational Safety Card and that you know its number.
- The training starts at 8:00 AM and is conducted on the Microsoft Teams platform. Please be online well before the training starts to ensure your connection is working properly.
- After the training concludes, following four lessons, the exam will be taken. The exam starts at 12:00 PM.
- The training is conducted remotely, so make sure you have a personal computer or smart device with a working camera and microphone.
- Only one person per device may participate in the training, and each participant must register separately.
- The training is conducted in Finnish. By registering, you confirm your ability to understand Finnish so that you can follow the training and answer the exam questions. Unfortunately, the use of an interpreter is not possible in this training.
- The necessary materials and instructions, as well as the course book, will be delivered to you electronically before the training begins.
- As proof of completing the training, we will send you a plastic Occupational Safety Card approximately one month after the course ends. In addition, after passing, you will receive a mobile card that you can use to demonstrate your qualification before the physical card arrives.
The Occupational Safety Card issued after refresher training is equally valid as the card issued after full-day training. The card does not separately mention the duration of the training.
Complete the refresher training on time
The Occupational Safety Card is valid for five years from the date of issue, and it can be renewed with a four-hour refresher training, provided your card is still valid. If the card has expired, you must complete the seven-hour basic training again. We recommend checking the card’s validity well in advance and booking a place in the renewal training on time.
The content of the renewal training is concise and effective. It covers the principles of occupational safety, identification of workplace hazards, and procedures in accident situations. The training concludes with an electronic exam, and passing it entitles you to a new card. The renewed card is issued as an electronic mobile card and is valid for the next five years.
The four-hour renewal training is designed as a quick and cost-effective way to update your qualification. The course is conducted as online training via Teams, and participation is easy – you only need a device with a camera, microphone, and a working internet connection.
Secure your place on the course and update your card on time. This way you avoid having to complete the longer basic training and ensure that your qualification remains uninterrupted. Register for the refresher course today!
